Sony Singapore has announced that it will start accepting customer payments in USDC through Crypto.com. The company also plans to accept other crypto assets in the future.

Starting from April 2 11:00 SST, Singaporean users can start paying for Sony Electronic products in the Circle-issued stablecoin USDC (USDC) exclusively on Sony’s online store. The payments are facilitated by Crypto.com via Crypto.com Pay, the platform’s established payment solution which allows users to make instant crypto payments without network costs.

According to the official press release, by integrating the crypto exchange’s payment solution, Sony Electronics Singapore has become the first consumer electronics brand in Singapore to partner with Crypto.com to make stablecoin payments possible for customers. In addition, the Sony Singapore plans to adopt more crypto assets for payment options in the future in order to drive crypto adoption forward in the nation.

General Manager of Singapore at Crypto.com, Chin Tah Ang stated that the newly established payment integration aims to make crypto payments easier and more accessible for Sony customers, showcasing the potential benefits that come with stablecoin transactions.

“We’re pushing to make paying in crypto more mainstream and partnering with a well-established and forward-thinking brand like Sony Electronics Singapore further raises awareness of how simple it can be to pay for everyday goods and services using crypto,” said Ang.

USDC has grown to become the second largest stablecoin in circulation by market cap. At press time, USDC’s market cap stands at $60 billion, only falling behind USDT’s $144 billion market cap. Circle’s stablecoin has more than 60 billion stablecoins currently in circulation, according to data from crypto.news.

To drive more users to use USDC, Sony Singapore’s online store is offering two promotional programs for Crypto.com users. The first 50 customers to spend at least 300 Singaporean dollars ($223) worth of USDC on Sony’s online store through Crypto.com Pay will receive a free LinkBuds Speaker worth 299 SGD.

Not only that, the first 150 customers to spend at least 100 SGD worth of USDC on Sony’s online store will receive 20 USDC in their Crypto.com account. Sony Singapore customers who spent 300 SGD on the Sony online store can be eligible for both promotional programs.

Last February, Singapore department store chain Metro announced that it will start accepting stablecoin payments from customers in both physical and online stores. Metro teamed up with crypto payment firm DTCPAY to facilitate stablecoin payments in USDT (USDT), USDC, and WUSD.
