    Hey Ethereum family! 🦄

We’re delighted to start this new year by sharing an update that’s not just about revealing the location and date for Devcon 7, but rather an exciting expansion of our vision. This year, we’re embracing the whole Southeast Asia region as the stage for our community gathering! Why? read on to find out!

First and foremost, thank you for your patience amid the buzz and speculation about our next destination. After a memorable time in Bogotá for Devcon VI, we made the decision to schedule Devcon 7 for 2024. One of the main reasons for the decision was our wish to increase Devcon’s impact on regional Ethereum communities. The additional time allows us to more thoroughly engage with these local communities, offering support and empowerment in a more meaningful way.

We’re now set to make Devcon 7 a more inclusive and regionally focused event, and to reflect this vision, we’ll call it “Devcon Southeast Asia”, instead of referring to the name of the host-city.

With that context and new vision in mind, let’s dive into the exciting details!

🎉 Devcon Comes to Southeast Asia 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce that Devcon 7 will take place from November 12-15 in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand 🥳🎉, with a spirit that will resonate across Southeast Asia over the coming year.

Check out the beautiful new Devcon.org website today, and make sure to bookmark it to stay tuned for more information soon!

The Ethereum community in Southeast Asia holds significant potential, which has been evident in its rapidly growing crypto adoption. Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand are leading in the Global Crypto Adoption Index, underscoring the region’s pivotal role in the global Ethereum landscape.

Southeast Asia is a melting pot of diverse cultures, rich histories, and communities, and our intention is to envelop the whole of Southeast Asia in the Devcon experience. From the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur to the scenic beauty of Bali, from the technological hub of Singapore to the historical charm of Vietnam, this region pulsates with energy. And Bangkok, with its unique blend of tradition and modernity, serves as an ideal location in terms of both suitability of venue and global accessibility.

🛤 The Road to Devcon: Our journey so far 🛤

Over the past months, we’ve initiated the Road To Devcon (RTD) Grants round. This initiative was born from our commitment to support the rise of new Ethereum events, grassroots communities, and educational endeavors across Southeast Asia. We are happy to see the enthusiasm and innovative proposals pouring in from Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and others nearby Southeast Asia.

To everyone we’ve supported so far, a big shout-out! Your projects and efforts have been paving the Ethereum community’s journey in Southeast Asia. For those based in Southeast Asia with community-driven ambitions, we encourage you to apply for a small sponsorship and contribute to shaping the ecosystem.

At its core, what makes Devcon special is our diverse and ever-evolving community. As we set our sights on Devcon 7, we’re looking for continuous community involvement. From SEA to every corner of the globe, we want to hear from you.

Have ideas on community engagement? Ways to bridge the SEA Ethereum community with the global one? Or perhaps suggestions on projects we can support and dogfood? Send in your “Devcon Improvement Proposals” (DIPs), and let’s work together to make Devcon more reflective of our diverse community.

And keep posted here and at Devcon.org for more details as they’re released!

Until then, keep building and dreaming!
    –

    EF Devcon Team 🦄
